Diving and Snorkeling

You don’t have to be a professional to enjoy this adventure! Diving centers in Zanzibar offer courses not only for advanced divers but also for beginners. Admire the coral reef in the most famous underwater reserve in Zanzibar — the Mnemba Atoll. It’s an area of several kilometers of shallow reef, and together with crystal-clear water, it creates a beautiful underwater world full of life.

If you don’t want to dive with a tank, you can admire the reef from the surface using fins and a snorkeling mask. It’s worth wearing a protective shirt to avoid sunburn!

Stone Town

The oldest historic part of Zanzibar City, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is full of narrow alleys, small squares, and courtyards hiding mosques and grand, though slightly time-worn, houses. Explore Swahili architecture, which is an extraordinary blend of Arab, Indian, and African styles. Feel the atmosphere that encourages reflection and won’t let you pass indifferently by the rich history of Zanzibar. You can also observe the everyday life of the island’s residents.

Safari – Jozani Forest Reserve

A one-of-a-kind reserve in Zanzibar where you can encounter endemic animal species and feel the magic of a tropical forest. As you walk along the green paths, you’ll come across red colobus monkeys found only on this island, as well as many birds, butterflies, and plants characteristic of Zanzibar. It’s the perfect place to escape the hustle of the beaches, listen to the sounds of nature, and discover the truly wild side of the island.

Prison Island

This small island holds many secrets. In the mid-19th century, it served as a prison for enslaved people who rebelled against the system. Later, it became a quarantine site for those suffering from yellow fever. Today, it is inhabited mainly by Aldabra giant tortoises brought from the Seychelles — one of the largest and longest-living tortoise species in the world. They can weigh up to 300 kg and consume around 25 kg of food per day!
